It looks like Timberman is certain so I am starting to get excited about making good on a Half IM distance.

Brandon,
Thank you very much. You had an awesome Muskoka race! In fact, the stats I have seen all year point to a break out season. Well done! I should be in Wasaga and Cobourg so see you there!LARRY BRADLEYhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16313899199306917132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5827737464858820075.post-56000560950387342402010-08-05T07:47:51.685-07:002010-08-05T07:47:51.685-07:00Great post Larry, way to stick it out in the face ...Great post Larry, way to stick it out in the face of some big challenges...especially over what seemed to me to be an especially tough run. My quads objected so badly to the climb past the tracks that the cramping kept me hobbling for 4 or 5 days after the race. I wouldn't worry too much about the swim...even the best swimmers seemed about 5 seconds slower /100m than they are capable of, and they spent a lot less time battling the currents than you or I! Good luck at Timberman, hope it all comes together for you and you are able to milk every last mph out of that E114! Maybe see you in Cobourg or Wasaga.
Cheers,Brandon Habermehlnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5827737464858820075.post-52057935796240523892010-07-30T04:55:05.650-07:002010-07-30T04:55:05.650-07:00Thanks Larry. That saddle issue would have ruined my mental game and I'm not sure that I would have finished with nearly as much class. As much as we're all "competing" out there the last thing you like to see is someone having a tough go of it. Even though I had a less than stellar day I actually still matched my goal time and beat my splits from last year...except for the run obviously and even that I felt like I had a better run since it's such a tougher run course.

Next up is Ironman Canada in a little more than four weeks. I'm a first-timer and am actually kind of glad I had to deal with a few "issues" in Muskoka as it let me practice dealing with some curveballs.

What's next for you?

PeterPeter Abbatangelohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18087414375866718461noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5827737464858820075.post-7282815628850490292010-07-27T11:24:15.723-07:002010-07-27T11:24:15.723-07:00Peter,

It is so easy to quit out there so I am glad I had others like yourself to push me along. A lot of the time I get caught up in my goal time that I forget about the accomplishment of just finishing.

We will get our revenge on Muskoka one of these days!

Congrats on pushing through on that tough course!

What is next for you?

Talk soon,
LarryLARRY BRADLEYhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16313899199306917132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5827737464858820075.post-27418753562178329902010-07-26T17:31:14.897-07:002010-07-26T17:31:14.897-07:00Larry, I've read your blog for a while and rec...Larry, I've read your blog for a while and recognized you on the run course. I could see you were struggling on the run (I offered some salts and words of encouragement) as you and I were leap-frogging each other pretty much the whole way (you ended up finishing a minute and change ahead of me). I found motivation from your persistance in keeping plugging away even though you were hurting. It wasn't "my day" either as I had some equipment issues and cramping I've never had before so the motivation was welcome. Not every race goes as planned and often times it's how you deal with the adversity. Well done for your overcoming yours and finishing strong! Also, don't worry too much about your swim time, that's a very slow swim course due to current and shape. I felt I had a great swim too and was a few minutes off my Welland time.
Peter AbbatangeloPeter Abbatangelohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18087414375866718461noreply@blogger.com
